The self-healing process has four stages:

OBSERVE:
DATA COLLECTION

Intelligent cars with sensors - such as cameras and radar – capture data as they drive the roads and transmit it back to the HERE cloud. This crowdsourced sensor data includes anything from lane closures and barriers to road signs and pavement markings.

AGGREGATE: FUSING DATA

Cars come in different shapes, have sensors in different places, and travel on different parts of the road, so they perceive objects differently. This creates many observations with slight differences. HERE has machine learning technology that takes these observations and fuses them into one accurate feature.

CREATE:
INTELLIGENT UPDATES

HERE has sophisticated algorithms that consider multiple variables, such as the confidence of the various input sources, to create the new feature and to update the HD map.

PUBLISH:
UPDATING USERS

Once a new feature has been added to HERE HD Live Map, it’s then published to all relevant vehicles in near real-time. Thus, providing autonomous vehicles the reliable data they need to make safer and more efficient driving decisions.

HERE guides the connected vehicles of today, and the autonomous vehicles of tomorrow, with its map made for cars, by cars.
